Nela De Zoysa is a practicing architect from Sri Lanka, an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (Hon. FAIA), a Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (FIA (SL)), a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA), a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Australian Architects (FRAIA), an International Associate of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (Int’l. Assoc. RAIC), and a Life Member of Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID)
She has the distinction of being the only living Architect is Sri Lanka to be a Hon. FAIA and FRIBA, the first in Sri Lanka to win the ARCASIA Gold Medal in 2000 for the BMW Complex and also the First Woman in Sri Lanka to win the South Asian Architects Award.
She has participated in 19 International Conferences of ARCASIA, 5 of UIA, 8 of AIA, 2 of RIBA and 2 of CAA.
She has served on Councils of ARCASIA as Office Bearers for 4 years, RIBA for 6 years and SLIA for 4 years.
Nela’s prelude to Architecture was her Painting and Sculpture, through which she possesses an unhibited boldness for colour, being an Artist Architect.
