DESIGN STUDIO BRIEF
Title: Understanding the city & its communities.
Objective: To understand basics of urban design, their terminologies, study, methods of documentation, analysis & methods of presentation through the study of selected community with a peculiar socio-cultural identity & hence physical characteristics.
Studio Details: Studio introduce students to the methods of mapping and representation of the city. To identify various issues, understand urban communities & the importance of guidelines & policy level interventions with the design outcomes.
Students were divide into 4 groups to study various communites on basis of their Religious beliefs, practices & occupational pattern.
Groups 1: Mehdibagh Community
Group 2: Bohra Community
Group 3: Parsi Community
Group 4: Tailor Community.
Studio was divided into two parts. First part consisted of Study & Analysis of the community & on basis of this PART A interventions were supposed to be done. PART B concentrated on the future expansion of the community & for the studio program, we assumed that if the population increases over the period of time like 20-25 years, the capacity of old areas will get exhausted. So for this kind of scenario, what kind of development can be proposed.
