This semester more complexity in architectural design is added by introducing the sloping site which is always a challenge in itself. “Accommodation for people on workcation” is the theme chosen for the design of this semester. the main focus of the major project of this semester is to design a building or group of buildings on a slope so as to achieve site building symbiosis. The emphasis is on designing a module and understanding the concept of modular coordination with respect to the site potentials, climatological aspect and exploration of different material. Site planning is also introduced at a preliminary level.
Apart from the challenge of the sloping site students consider climate of the place and the adopt climate responsive strategies.
The destination for workation chosen is “Maitraban camp site” near Zhilpi Lake in Hingna in Nagpur district. The small lake backed with Green Mountains gives a view of Outstation Picnic Point and its just near Nagpur city and very approachable with own vehicle.
Students explore the site building symbiosis with respect to the topography, climate and form of the building.
